Late Summer Ball Camp:
Rough sketch is 3 weeks of Friday, Saturday, Monday night camp in August. Total of 8 hours each week. Fridays & Saturdays will have 2 hour sessions with training on a particular aspect of the game done by one of our coaches in the league. Each time there will be three different options going on so players can choose what or who they want to learn with that time. This will give players six total sessions where they can learn about 6 different topics or similar topics from different coaches. The idea is not that we will have a unified instruction profile, but chances for kids to learn different ideas and approaches to aspects of the game from multiple sources within the league.
Later on Saturdays and Monday nights there will be the Derby league with 4 or 5 man teams playing 3 half hour games over a two hour period each session for a total of 16 to 18 games. Games will be played on all three fields at Optimist and be played with the 1800’s style equipment. Players in Winter Ball the last couple of years have had fun with these easy, quick, low-key games.
Still deciding on age limits but will probably go from 10 to 16. If you have questions or interest let me know here or at the park and will probably start registration soon. Fall league registration starts the first of July for our 8 game league in Sept/Oct.
Likely cost for Late Summer Ball camp will be $100 (no other fees including gate, etc.)
