2026 Season info
#1 Rolling a little now Finally all but two Sunset teams with a game played and many with two. #2 Team Practices It will be up to individual team coaches as to whether they will organize any team practices during the season as we will now have league games running at the parks 5 days a week. #3 Field updates/Batting Cages Cages at Optimist are back up and running thanks to new mid-week users. Will drag fields periodically during the preseason and mow bi-weekly. Remember to keep an eye on yourself for ticks this spring in case. #4 20th Anniversary Season!!! 2016 will be the 20th Summer league for Metro baseball and we hope to have our best year yet including some sort of special events to commemorate our anniversary year. #5 Uniforms Still a few uniforms to get out to players, will have them at the park for first games. Working on some hats for a few teams where sizes were not working out. Here are pant colors to be worn by each team in the Majors & Seniors. Sunset players can each wear gray or white for any team. GRAY PANTS: NAPS, DOVES, PADRES, BROWNS, PHILLIES WHITE PANTS:HIGHLANDERS, CUBS, GIANTS, BLUEJAYS, TWINS, & SUPERBAS. BLACK PANTS: SENATORS. #6 Leo Cloutier Contest We are doing another year of the sportswriting contest and are featuring baseball writer, Leo Cloutier this year. Five contestants already in and looking for 1 more. Open to players or their siblings. #7 Wood Bats for sale Still have some bats for sale and looking for more. See me at the park, what ever I have sells for $40 to $65. Remember the league supplies bats so you don’t have to buy one. #8 Field Prep Thanks to Coach Smith & Blake Cowan we are hoping to continue to maintain and improve the condition of the Optimist fields and will also use Barnhouse as part of the Summer & Fall season. #8 The Sounds of 2026 The Seniors head to new wave music of the 80’s, the Sunset to Depression era hits of the 30’s, and the Majors back to some of the earliest recorded music ever from 1900-1909. #9 Virdon Retro Fantasy League World Series time, see the VRFL pages for finish and think about owning a team next year!
